Testimonials

Every person has a story to tell.

Beginning in the fall of 2026, I will tour and present a series of interactive talks inspired by my lifelong passions for photography and storytelling. Drawing on my years of experience as a financial planner and presenter, I have created a unique program that invites people to reflect, share, and connect through the stories that shape their lives.

These are highly participatory events designed for groups of 10 to 50 people and can be hosted in a home, community hall, library, church, or other gathering space. Using a variety of visual and hands-on prompts, participants are encouraged to explore memories, perspectives, and experiences in a welcoming and engaging environment.

While books will be available for purchase, the focus of these gatherings is not on selling books. The purpose is to foster meaningful conversation and human connection.

Do you know of a venue that might be interested in hosting an event? Would you enjoy gathering a group of friends in your home for an evening of storytelling and conversation?

If you're looking for something more meaningful than the usual discussions about the weather, politics, or current events, this may be an opportunity to reconnect—with your own stories and with one another—in a safe, thoughtful, and engaging setting.

I would love to start a conversation about bringing this experience to your community.

Testimonial from the Alzheimer’s Durham presentation ~ June 18, 2026

We would like to give you a heartfelt thank you for a wonderful experience yesterday.

Your presentation was engaging, humorous, fun, educational, and uplifting, and it made our staff, volunteers, and members feel overjoyed! The upside-down pictures were awesome and helped us explore many wonderful ideas. Your stories were fascinating and insightful.

Your timeline exercise allowed us to think and create conversation. It was amazing to hear all the wonderful stories from our members and staff in response to the questions you asked.

The best way I can let you know how much of a mark you left on us is by saying we talked about you all day, and even when members were leaving.

We hope you might like to return and provide the same positive experience for our family members or our staff.

 Thank you again,

The Friendly Place members and staff

Personal Testimonials

I am profoundly grateful for the heartfelt words shared by Ed Farquharson; Natasha Borota; Jim Shaw and Judie Nevers; and Patti Chiasson. Their testimonials are more than expressions of support—they are a reminder of why the Passion and Purpose of Ordinary People came to life in the first place.

This book was born from a simple but powerful belief: that ordinary people are often the true carriers of extraordinary courage, compassion, wisdom, and purpose. Their stories may not always make headlines, but they shape families, communities, and the spirit of a nation. In their own thoughtful ways, Ed, Natasha, Jim, Judie and Patti have captured that vision beautifully.

Their words speak not only to this book but also to the importance of recognizing the dignity and value of lives that might otherwise go unnoticed. Each person featured in these pages has something to teach us about perseverance, humanity, and hope. Together, their stories form a tapestry of inspiration that reminds us all that a meaningful life is not measured by fame, but by heart, purpose, and the impact we have on others.

My hope is that as you read Passion and Purpose of Ordinary People, you will feel encouraged, uplifted, and perhaps even see your own story reflected in these pages. If these generous testimonials speak to you, I invite you to discover the book for yourself—and to share it with others who believe in the extraordinary power of ordinary lives.

To Naguib, my dear friend and the maestro behind 'Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives,' Being a part of your first book was an experience I'll cherish, not just as Ed Farquharson, but as a father and grandfather. There's a profound truth in knowing that our children and grandchildren are the living echoes of our time here, the most extraordinary legacy we can leave behind.

Your book, much like life itself, beautifully captures these enduring connections. And speaking of extraordinary, Naguib, you're a character straight out of your own pages! Who else could be a former investment guru, a philanthropist, and a photographer, yet still struggle to put a worm on a hook? It's a testament to your unique charm that you can turn one fish into a feast of love, friendship, counsel, and financial support for multitudes.

You lend an ear, get our stories out through your incredible books (first, and now the soon-to-be-printed second!), and with your charming wife Donna, even offer motor vehicle maintenance advice. You truly embody the spirit of positive interaction, making every life you touch a little brighter. Thank you for inviting me on this journey again. It's an honour to contribute to 'The Passion and Purpose of Ordinary People,' and I eagerly await its release. Your work is a heartwarming reminder that the most profound stories are often found in the most unexpected places, and sometimes, even a fisherman who can't bait his own hook can teach us the most about humanity.

Ed Farquharson

“Naguib Kerba has been one of the rare people in my life who inspires both reflection and courage. Through years of friendship, deep conversations, creativity, and unwavering support, he has helped me see life lessons more clearly and dream bigger about the future, and we have both taken chances we might never have taken alone. I’m endlessly grateful for the way he includes my friends and family with a seat at his table and a view through his lens, but most importantly, how we continue doing life together whenever time allows — with honesty, laughter, wisdom, and genuine love.”

Natasha Borota

“Contributing to this book was an incredibly special experience. We loved the opportunity to share our story while connecting with others’ voices and journeys. The process itself was thoughtful and meaningful, powerfully encouraging reflection. This project has left a lasting impact on us, and we’re grateful to have been part of it. It will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

Patricia and Philip Chiasson

VALUED… that is the word that comes to mind… your efforts to include so many of us in your writing and photography made Jim and me realize the value you place on your relationships. As we go through life, we seldom hear of the impact we have left on others. To know that someone valued us is indeed a gift we will always treasure.
