A note on photo permissions. My policy considering what I will and won’t do with respect to street photography. This is an ongoing and constantly developing story, not just in Egypt, but almost globally. Long gone are the days when everything while not necessarily allowed was photographed without care - with and without permission. I no longer take photos of children without consent first. In long distance shots, it’s impossible not to include some, but closeups are a definite no. I’ve also wanted to capture a seen so badly in the past that I have taken the person’s camera and photographed them since I don’t need nor have any use for them.
I have three types of photos and their use always has a “depends” element.
General shots to visually capture the scene and mood are taken from a distance and with these shots permission is not possible. Generally, no military, or inappropriate images.
Close ups of people I interact with, I ask for permission first and offer to share the images when possible. Do so immediately. These will be considered for use in more detailed story telling. Anything posted online of published, I will ask for written permission. I’ve not used model releases unless, I will be profiting from sales.
All images are low resolution for uploading convenience.
Meet the Crew of the Sonesta Moon Goddess
The Skipper
Everyone is special on the Sonesta Moon Goddess. The staff greet everyone with a smile. No comment by anyone goes un-noticed, and acted on.
For instance, I made a comment about how I try and avoid deep fried fish. Within ten minutes, I am handed a pan fired Sea Bass. Larry’s Kafta, was underdone, a few minutes later, newly made kafta is delivered.
Back to my original point - Wow, just Wow!
