Cruise: West Bank of Luxor,

Morning opportunity

Cruise Embarkation

Day 1: Luxor Sightseeing
Meet and greet by the Memphis tours and register on board was as seamless as can be. First class wall the way. The team went out of their way to accommodate all our wishes.
Lunch on board was a real treat. Our waiter for the event was Mohamed. When he found out I was trying to avoid the deep fried fish, he went to the kitchen and arranged for the chef to panfry the most exquisite Sea Bass, when the others on the table saw what I had, three of the four fellow travellers needed to try my catch of the day. Wow!

Karnak Temple

Columns in Karnak

I’m beginning to think I am in Texas. Everywhere I go, there is the sight of what is described as the largest this or that. In Luxor, there is a temple complex called Karnak, whose components include temples dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The structures are dated from 2055 BC to 100 AD. It is considered the largest religious building ever built. It covers 200 acres.

For the travellers amongst us, if you want some scale, the great temple in the heart of Karnak is so big that the cathedrals of St. Peter’s in Rome, Milan Cathedral and Notre Dame in Paris would all fit inside it.

The 54,000 Hypostyle Hall is 54,000 square feet, has 134 columns, and remains the largest room of any religious building in the world.

See what I meant?

Wow, just Wow!

Thanksgiving Turkey, thank you Sonesta Moon Godess chefs

This one is all on Monique who had the presence of mind to start the conversation with our Memphis tours people about having a table decoration for Thanksgiving Monday. They in turn reached out to the Sonesta Moon Godess people who morphed that into a full blown Turkey Dinner, complete with gravely, mashed potatoes and peas. If that was not enough, they even had Apple and Pumpkin pies for dessert.

What can I say? Wow!

Abdu, I’m having so much fun with these portraits.
