Luxor City tour, Felucca
Abu Saif, our Falucca first mate
Luxor lazy day, Donna Chris and I decided to have lunch at our hotel for lunch. The food here has been some of the best. Sayed, our host, and I have become fast friends. This morning after breakfast, I went out on the street to take pictures (imagine that)
All of a sudden I hear a car horn and my name being called. It was Sayed, he wanted me to speak to an elderly friend, also named Naguib. The other friend was retired tour guide who is losing his sight and sounded like a wonderful man. I agreed we would meet on my next trip.
Sayed, then took me to a papyrus store, the Nefertary Papyrus Institute, where I met Farag Doal, who was also so gracious, of course I had to do a portrait of him.
Next up on his trip to the bank, was a stop at a textile factory where I met another friend of Sayed. Abdu el Rahul owns the factory and store Habiba Hand Weving. Thankfully, I didn’t have my wallet. All the prices were in American dollars and they have a no haggling policy.
Finally a trip to Sayed where he had to do chores that his wife asked him to do.
